Press Releases

The luxury Lexus brand continues to expand its presence in premium SUV segments, achieving record sales due to further growth in 2017.

Official figures released today show that combined sales of the NX, RX and LX Lines have increased more than 1.4 per cent this year to 3,380 vehicles - the best January-July result in the company's history.

Growth of SUV sales volumes, complemented by solid results from its passenger-car range, has enabled Lexus to deliver a total of 5,460 vehicles so far this year, just 69 short of the all-time record achieved at the same stage last year.

The RX Line of SUVs returned its best July in five years while 2017 sales of the NX compact SUV and the dominant LX 570 have out-performed deliveries for the first seven months of 2016.

Consumers have bought more than 2,050 of the NX Line so far in 2017, which is the best January-July tally in the model's three years of sales and 1.4 per cent ahead of the same period last year.

The four-wheel-drive LX 570 has surpassed 200 sales so far this year, posting its strongest showing since 2008 with an increase of 44.7 per cent over the same stage in 2016.

The midsize RX SUV recorded its strongest July sales since 2012 with 162 deliveries, bringing its 2017 tally to 1,126 sales and within 44 of last year's running total.

Lexus chief executive Peter McGregor said the brand's results reflected the breadth of the Lexus line-up across multiple passenger and SUV markets.

"The Lexus NX, RX and LX Lines are well placed to benefit from the trend among the buying public that has made SUVs the most popular form of vehicle transport in Australia," Mr McGregor said.

"At the same time, our range of passenger vehicles such as the CT 200h, IS and GS continue to command strong appeal.

"Over the coming 12 months, we expect these trends to continue while benefiting from the halo effect on our brand of two new flagship models - the recently introduced LC flagship coupe and next year's LS luxury sedan," he added.
