LEXUS AUSTRALIA TO RECALL IS AND LS SEDANS

Lexus Australia will recall 182 LS 500, LS 500h and IS 300h models due to an issue relating to their run-flat tyres.

The involved vehicles are equipped with run-flat tyres that use a hard rubber layer for reinforcement on the inner side of the tyre sidewall. This allows the continuation of driving, even if the air pressure reduces to zero through a puncture or other means, for a certain distance at a limited speed.

During the tyre to wheel assembly process, there is a possibility that a crack may have developed on the sidewall reinforcement layer.

Under certain driving conditions, such as highway driving with low tyre pressure, this could lead to abnormal noise and vibration and eventually may cause portions of the tyre tread layer to separate. This may then cause a reduction of vehicle stability increasing the risk of a crash.

Lexus dealers will replace all four run-flat tyres free of charge to customers. Lexus Australia will personally contact all owners and also notify them by mail, at their last known address, to provide details of this Safety Recall Campaign.

The replacement of tyres will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. However, it may be necessary for the owner to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time depending upon the Dealer's work schedule.

Owners with additional questions or concerns are asked to please contact their local Lexus Dealer in the first instance or the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre on 1800 023 009 from 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday. Please quote your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
